Me, I rediscovered Guns n Roses "November Rain" - not actually eighties, but a marvellous example of 'rock narrative' - and as for that wedding dress... remember that one? Fabulous! Just the thing my current heroine would wear!
But the best thing is Slash's stance in his solo outside the church...

makes me think of one of the tracks that seems to be a fave at my gym class - a techno remix of alice cooper's "poison" - "black lace, on sweat. i want to touch you but i better not touch - don't touch, i want to love you but my senses tell me to stop...."
all this from a man who wore far too much eyeliner and bit heads off chickens. see what you can do with that nats.....

So. As you're talking music and 80s nostalgia - what about the 'hair' bands? There's Whitesnake with 'Here I go again', all the Bon Jovi stuff from 'Slippery when wet', Bryan Adams. (OK, so he's not hairband, but... I loved 80s rock.)
And Howard Jones. 'Hide and Seek' was brilliant. Especially the version he did at Live Aid - piano rather than synth. I could've married him for that song alone.
And who can forget Phil Collins' 'In the air tonight'? (Reminds me of walking home from uni in the snow.)
Brilliant discussion. I thought you lot were all about 10 years younger than me. Maybe I'm not that ancient, then *g* I just feel it with a 6-y-o who thinks she's 13 and an almost 10-y-o who wants to be a Time Lord.
