Pavarotti

... when I was 17 I had the marvellous good fortune (thanks Mum) to see Pavarotti when he toured Australia.
Such great talent. He brought such pleasure to millions - and introduced opera to millions more. I loved him.
Here he is singing my favourite tenor aria - E lucevan le stelle - from Puccini's Tosca, my favourite opera.

So. Sitting and thinking of you tonight Maestro. And giving thanks for your life and work.

Hey Nat, yeah it's terribly sad he's gone. I'd read of his death on the internet but when the bulletin came up on the TV News last night I had to get up and leave the room. I hate crying in front of my kids (they keep telling me my bladder is too close to my eyeballs!) There was an amazing quality to Pavarotti's voice, wasn't there? Just brought tears to your eyes hearing it. Thank heavens for CDs and DVDs and thank you also to Luciano Pavarotti for the gift of his song.

LOL at your bladderous eyes. But yes, its a real shame the world has lost such a gift.

...CDs, DVDs ... and Youtube! ;)
