Time for another hanky moment...

OK, so we're loving all the entries coming in for the weepie movie competition - and to be honest we've had so many mentioned there's no way we can load them all - so we've broken them into categories... first up, its the movies featuring children - these ones really get us guys - especially when the child is ailing or worse... remember this one?

Jude will have another later today...

These don't feature any children, but... Out of Africa and Immortal Beloved both have me sobbing audibly every time I see them. When I saw Immortal Beloved at the movies, I was crying so loudly that it was actually embarrassing....
oh! and Last of the Mohicans, the whole wordless love story between Alice and the young Mohican chief, they never even spoke a word to each other, yet he died trying to save her, and she threw herself off a cliff after him. yeesh.
I think the common denominators here are amazing soundtracks and georgeous scenery that make your heart feel all big, and your throat achy. (And tragic love stories of course.)

Annie - I am so with you on Last of the Mohicans - and I LOVE that soundtrack - I must get it to write to actually - it's really beautiful. It gets me when the English guy sacrifices himself for Madeline Stowe's character too and Daniel Day Lewis puts him out of his misery... ah, might just have to get the DVD darnit!

It also has the. best. heroic. line. ever. "Stay alive - no matter what occurs - I will find you!" Gives me goosebumps just typing it...

Oh yes, you have me so inspired - I might have to trawl those big bins at the Warehouse and find myself a copy!!!!!

Generally I stay clear of tragic movies involving children. They are way to painful, even those that end well.
I prefer romance that ends well. Especially when there are twists and turns.
Concerning weepy movies I would like to add The Lake House to the list. It's all about missed occasions but it ends well because he trusts her and doesn't cross the street. The scene where Sandra Bullock waits at the mail box for Keanu Reeves to collect her letter was the weepy moment.
