First up, it's always nice to start the day with good news and today I'm thrilled to be able to say that Bella and Owen's story - my 7th Modern Heat - has been accepted! It'll be on the shelves as:
PLEASURED IN THE PLAYBOY'S PENTHOUSE
- I'll let you know the release dates later - YAY!!!!
Now, let's get on to the competition thing! You read the heading of this blog right? Yep, that's what Jude and I wanna know - which movie was it that had you crying buckets... that really hit you in a raw spot and made you bleed...
There's something about movies that make you cry - the experience can be wonderful - so cathartic! But I must admit I have a couple that made me cry to much I actually kind of hate them! ;)
So why are we wanting to know this when my books are usually sprinkled with humour over pathos?! Well for me, BOUGHT: ONE NIGHT, ONE MARRIAGE - the book up for grabs as part ofhte prize pack, is the first book I've written that's made me cry, my editor cry AND my mother cry - the trifecta!!! That's some feat you know ;) I've had combinations before, but not all three...
BOUGHT does have my usual funny spots, but there are just a couple of moments where - oh boy, have those hankies handy...
You'll have to flip over to Jude's Blog to see all about her movie picks!!!
Over the next few days I"ll post an excerpt from BOUGHT, and from Jude's "The Confetti Countdown", and detail some of the other prizes in our fabbo pack.
BUT YOU MUST ENTER!!!! Send me an email natalie@natalie-anderson.com and tell me the name of the movie that made you cry the most (and why if you want to!). Over the month we'll put snippets up from YOUTUBE (if we can) so it'll be a movie madness month! And on July 31st we'll draw the winner! So send 'em in and come and check them out!
To get the ball rolling, here's a snippet from one of my weepie movies (I have several!). This is from Truly, Madly, Deeply - it is heartbreaking as she learns she has to move on with her life - and he has to move on with his afterlife...I adore Alan Rickman... you know I've just spent the last half hour debating Youtube clips and here I am bawling! Just not sensible at 5 in the morning!!! In the end I settled on the trailer (the voiceover guy sounds a bit cheery but it's all good):
Now hop on over to Jude and see hers!!!

For me it has to be The Notebook. It evokes more emotion than any other movie I've ever seen. From the passion of first love to the joy of reuniting to the pain of slowing losing the one that you've loved for most of your life. Wow, what a great movie.
And to think that I didn't want to see it at the movies. It wasn't until I saw it on TV that I fell in love with it.
Hopefully it will be on again soon!
Oh Marcy I know - that's one of the ones that made me cry so much I almost hate it - but the ending was beautiful - this one has just popped up on my eHarlequin blog too - I wouldn't be at all surprised if others settle on this one too...
Nat, it's definitely TMD. But for me it's the moment where she's bawling her eyes out, just repeating the words 'I miss him'.
Caught me on a day when I was really missing my mum - and it wasn't that lon after her death.
It's one of my favourite films, but even now it brings the whole feeling back. (And the cello-playing scene moved me to, ahem, write a cello-playing scene for my March 09 Medical romance...)
Kate I know what you mean about movies that hit you at sensitive times - I have a couple like that and I still feel it all even when thinking of the title... :S
- oh interesting about the cello! That scene will be wonderful for sure!!! I loved the one with the piano in your 'Sold to the Highest Bidder' where he launches into chopsticks ;)
You know, I dated a cellist once.. yikes... let's move on ;)
Know what's really spooky? Just after I typed that, I got my proofs. Of that book. :o)
Glad you enjoy my musicians. I'm very fond of Gio because of that...
Oh that is spooky Kate!!! Hope the proofs are perfect!
