Those Weepie Movies!!!

So its the last day to enter the competition - and the last day to vote on the weepiest lovestory movie in the poll too (and it looks like it IS Love Story that'll take it out!)
Come back tomorrow to find out who wins the draw.
But meantime, here are just a few other movies you mentioned and why:

'Love Story', starring Ryan O'neal and Ali MacGraw. This was when I was about twelve or thirteen. cried and cried when Ali's character died in the end. And the music.... OMG, the music in itself is enough to cry over! LOL! BTW, when I grew older, I read the original book (for which the movie was made) by Erich Segal, and found it almost as much of a tearjerker - minus the music, of course. Also, I shed some tears over 'Titanic'. Dumb, I know, but how could anyone not cry over seeing Leonardo DeCaprio frozen solid while Kate Winslet kept calling out his name pitifully?
- Amanda

The Bridges of Madison County. First the book then the movie. The emotion in Streep's eyes when she is gripping that door handle. Wow. Deep Impact. When that meteor is coming and Tea Leoni is holding on to her dad and she says "daddy". I sob. A Walk to Remember. So inspiring but sad. When he first finds out that she is dying and he goes to his dad. Again, I sob. Pride and Prejudice, the new one with Kiera Knightley. In so many places. I love it so much I cry happy tears.
-Jillyan

one of my all time sob movies was "hillary and jacqui" - the one about jacqueline du pre and her sister
- Sarah G

Wanna know what movie made me want to bawl but I couldn't because I saw it with my 4 year old? Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium. No joke. You should get it for the kids...it explains death in the most beautiful way. I was just weepy because I saw it right after last year's two funerals in a week. Ugh.
- Jenna

Imation of Life. This movie was about a black widow who has a light skin daughter, and the mother goes to work for a white struggling actress, with a white daughter. The what made me cry was how the Black widow's daughter, who could pass for a white person kept denying who she was and was ashamed of her mother. The part that was very sad was coming down to the end where the Black widow's daughter got to work as a showgirl and when she went to see her she denied her mother ans said that she was her nanny, and the mother loved her so much she went along with what her daughter said. In the end her mother died and she was remorseful but it was to late for apologies.
- Avian

Before I forget, the movie that made me cry most was 'Once were Warriors' -i remember crying all the way in the car on the way home from the cinema.
- Emma

I recently sat through You’ve Got Mail again. One of my all-time favourites. There is that part where Tom Hanks visits Meg Ryan when she has a cold and she is spouting off and he gently puts his hand to her mouth to stop her saying anything else that she will regret and you can just tell… that is the moment they both realize there is a connection, it really got to me in that sitting, it is beautifully done in the film, you can FEEL it! And then there is the happy ending (it is a Tom/Meg movie after all). Then there is Sleepless in Seattle (you cry all the way through that one); French Kiss; Sabrina and Shirley Valentine. Then I cried my eyes out at Fahrenheit 911 but that was a completely different reason
- Sarah O

the first is Ghost - with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. What mad me cry was the part when when he was killed also when he communicates with her in the end just before he has to go to his resting place. I actually cried throughout most of this movie. The next is Gone with the wind - this one was truly a classic, what made me cry was when the daughter fell from the horse and died, the part when Scarlett fell from the stairs and the ending when she loses him but still has hope. This is really a sad romance. Then Pearl Harbor, more recent, but still a old movie. The part what made me cry was how Rafe (Ben affleck) plane went down and when he came back and found how things changed, and the ending when Danny (Josh Hartnett) was dying and learns he is to become a father but tell his friend he is to be the father and the final scene with Rafe and the little boy. The whole war scene was also made me teary eye.
- Lakshimi

The Movie that made me cry the most was "The Notebook" starring James Garner you may have seen it , its about a man and his wife ,the wife has alzimers and is in a home and cant remember him but he comes to read to her every day because he stays there to , the book is about them and how they started going out with each other , its truely a lovely story , in the end ...... oh i wont tell you that you'll have to wathch and see lol
- Karen

There were LOADS of entries and many fab movies listed - thank so much for joining in the fun! I have a zillion movies in my to-be-watched list now!

Breakfast at Tiffany's

I've forgotten to put up Paddy's story and I promised to do that in the weekend! Here it is - made me smile... and there are some other 'why's' behind the movie picks to come over the next few days...

"When I was about 10, I went to Breakfast at Tiffanys with my mother and sister. At the end of the movie, they couldn't find me. That being the days when, in Oamaru no-one locked their cars, they went out to the car, and found me sobbing inconsolably on the back seat. They quickly reassured me that Holly Golightly had got her man, and i replied "But what about the cat?". What I was cryiing about was the cat sitting forlornly on the fire escape in the rain, when Holly and her man broke up and left the apartment. Good news was, the cat got reunited and dry, and I finally stopped crying. Postscript: 36 years later, I went to Tiffany's in New York, and looked for a little something to bring back to my mother for Christmas. I found a cup and saucer with the music + words of Moon River (B at T theme song) written on the porcelain. My mother got it immediately she saw the famous blue box, and the cup and saucer became a major talking point in her house. Since she died, it now has pride of place in mine!"

Don't forget its not too late to enter the weeipe movies competition - you have til the end of the month to email in the name of the movie that made you cry the most. Then Jude and I will draw a winner and s/he'll recieve copies of our latest releases, choccies, Scottish Highland delights, something Kiwiana and more!!!

Happy Movies that Make You Cry

Not all the films you guys listed were doom and gloom - some are really fun and get to us in a good way... Maree went with the remake of the Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnam and REne Russo - GREAT choice as it is so totally stylish and sophisticated...and has just come up on conversation with some fellow MH authors actually!!! It was the end that drew the tears for Maree.
Another one mentioned was Breakfast At Tiffany's - Paddy had the most fab story with that one - I'll be back with that tomorrow.
Meanwhile, here's Pierce and Rene...

Another snippet...

I was going to bring you a clip from a 'happy weepy movie' today but I'm having trouble with Youtube so I'll do it tomorrow.
Here's another snippet from BOUGHT: ONE NIGHT, ONE MARRIAGE.
This is the teaser in the very front page of the book...

"Let's have a competition. Our own little thing for charity. We each start Monday morning with say $100 in the kitty. We fundraise. For a week. At the end of the week whoever has raised the most wins."

"Wins what?" She was curious now, fixed on him.

"If you win, I'll double the combined amount and give it to the charity of your choice."

"And if you win?" Her eyes were wide.

"If I win then I get you for a weekend and can do whatever I want with you."

"Whatever you want?" She sounded as breathless as if she'd climbed a thousand stairs.

"You'll be my slave."

So... does it make you want to buy it?!

Which is the weepiest movie of them all???

OK, so in a few days I'm going to attempt to list all the movies you guys have said made you cry, cry and cry some more. But in this list there are a few that have been mentioned again and again. Interestingly, these seem to be romances (or rather sad romances as it happens). So, I've taken the top 5 most mentioned love stories and now its up to you guys to vote which is the weepiest of them all!

So look - eyes right - and you'll see the poll at the top of the sidebar there. You've got till the end of the month to VOTE - let's see which is the winner huh? And at the same time (ie end of July) Jude and I will draw the winner from the competition and send out the books and other prizes (which naturally include chocolate!!!)

Meanwhile, have you seen the new daily online read over at eharlequin?! I've been looking forward to this one for a while. It's by my fellow Kiwi Yvonne Lindsay and I've just read the first chapter - can't wait for tomorrow! Go and read it now!!!

Action movies that make you cry...

Yes - there are some out there - several actually! I tend to class things like Lord of the Rings as a bit of an action flick and that one has several votes - and one from me is Pirates of the Caribean (I cried in the last one), the Poseidon Adventure has had a few nods too, but this entry - from Julie M over at eHarlequin isn't one that I cried in myself - just goes to show different things move different people... I saw the last instalment of this series not that long ago and must admit I loved it!

Meanwhile, I'm getting into the swing of the wip - so glad to be back writing now that the twins are better - just in time for the big kids to go back to school and kindy!

One for Annie...

...well, ok, for me too because I just LOVE this movie - had a thing for Daniel Day Lewis for a long time as a result of course... it's pretty brutal (several 'look away' moment for me - but there is a lot going on in this film and I think its great. So is the soundtrack.

Meanwhile the kidlets are doing better and the postie brought me a new Japanese translation which was lots of fun :)

Weepie Movies: Based on a true story...

OK, in the list of movies that make you guys weep, there were several that were based on a true story. This is one of them - I watched it once and don't think I'll ever watch it again - not because it was a bad movie, but because it was too harrowing for me. Another like that for me and several of you is Schindler's List. There are some that take an historical event and build a story around it - like Titanic and Pearl Harbour and some that 'factionalise' part of the life of a person - like Miss Potter and Finding Neverland.
Do you think those movies that are inspired by actual events are all the more poignant or do you still weep buckets over movies that are pure fiction?
My answer, of course, is 'it depends'!!!

Trying Times...

... ok so things in the household are a little on the hell-on-wheels side and not showing signs of imminent improvement... interestingly, at times of stress my mind goes into 'escape' mode and voila, a couple of characters and a whole new book idea arrived from the deep, dark recesses on Friday. I found a minute to scribble it in a notebook which was great because I've forgotten it already. Trying to wrok thru a minor hiccup in the current wip when I have a few mins... which I don't seem to have at all right now...
HOWEVER - what's guaranteed to brighten a stressed out/frustrated writer's day?!?!
A nice review of course - what else?!
And I've had two recently :)

Marilyn - who reviews for the PHS, loved HIS MISTRESS BY ARRANGEMENT giving it 5 Hearts/Stars and had this to say:

His Mistress by Arrangement was a beautiful love story, it’ was the chase, their attraction for each other and how everything backfired for both of them. It touched me deeply as the book is actually a journey in self discovery for Emma and the realization of how she had put her dreams and
hidden them from everyone especially those who meant the most to her, her family and all because they wanted her to be successful so they could brag. As for Jake, this incredible man wanted only the best for Emma, he wanted her to have those dreams, trying to teach her to take a risk and if she wasn’t the best, he would still love and support her. As for Emma, could she fight that fear and ask for what she wanted? You are going to want to read this wonderfully written love story by Natalie Anderson as it is so moving, emotional and the happy ending spectacular!

And meanwhile, over at All About Romance - one of those notoriously hard to please reviewers had this to say:

I usually avoid the Harlequin Presents romances at the bookstore because the titles make me cringe, which means I would have missed Natalie Anderson's His Mistress by Arrangement and that would have been a shame, for I really liked the way the author told the story. In the future, I will have to remind myself "not to judge a book by its title" because I don't know what I may be missing...
The awakening of Emma's newfound passions is very well handled. The love
scenes are well done, and even though the author describes a weekend of lovemaking, it is not overkill for there is a nice balance between the romance and sex...
The story is set in New Zealand, and I learned some Kiwi slang when reading it; "stuffed up" means "goofed up" (I hope I am translating correctly). So, even though I feel the title was stuffed up, the story is well worth the read.

The titles of the Harlequin Presents books are often up for discussion - they definitely seem to be a love-hate thing! What do you think of them???

HIS MISTRESS BY ARRANGEMENT is no longer on the shelves in the US but you can still get a copy from Amazon or an electronic copy from Harlequin!

Movies with Animals...

Forgive my absence, its been a busy couple of days round here - my littlest twin has been in and out of hospital under observation and is thoroughly miserable so nil work, nil movie watching and nil sleep here - it is 'just' a virus but it is just a horrible one... roll on summer I say!

Trawling thru your movie picks there are several with animals that feature - something about these get to us eh? I think perhaps its the vulnerability of animals (like kids) that can really tug at our heartstrings... some of the ones you've listed include - the Lassie movies, Charlotte's Web, Old Yeller, Red Dog and Bambi - some icons there right?! :)
I couldn't get past this one - I went with the old 1972 cartoon 'cos that's the one you picked too...

Head to Jude's later to see what she went with. And now i'm off to bed for a quick snooze whle my wonderful husband takes the wee mite for a drive to set some more zzzzs....

Time for another hanky moment...

OK, so we're loving all the entries coming in for the weepie movie competition - and to be honest we've had so many mentioned there's no way we can load them all - so we've broken them into categories... first up, its the movies featuring children - these ones really get us guys - especially when the child is ailing or worse... remember this one?

Jude will have another later today...

A Veronese Affair...

...I have leaped into my new book with a zing and a grin - and am having a lot of fun.
We're in Verona, heading towards the end of summer but its very hot, and a couple of important people are being driven crazy!!!
I'm enjoying it a lot - especially seeing its the worst of winter here in New Zealand AND its the school holidays... thank goodness for the power of the imagination right?!

Now be sure to pop back tomorrow for another of your weepie movie picks and if you haven't entered already, just email me with the name of the movie that made you cry the most and youll go into the draw to win books, books and more!

BOUGHT: ONE NIGHT, ONE MARRIAGE - excerpt

- okay, as promised, here's the excerpt - from the very beginning of the book and both Cally and Blake are wishing they were somewhere else...

CHAPTER ONE

“I CAN’T believe I agreed to come here.” Cally looked around her, slowly taking in the decadent atmosphere in the hip Sydney bar. It was like Bacchanalia – riotous revelry. There were well over one hundred women filling the place with laughter, leer and enough bling to blind the nation. Canapés were being consumed with glee and being washed down with terrifyingly neon concoctions. High-pitched chatter drowned the relentless deep thud, thud, thud of the music. Anticipation hung in the air. You could taste the excitement, the expectation of one hell of a good show.
Cally screwed up her nose.
“Oh come on.” Mel looked at her with a ‘get a grip’ expression. “It’s for charity.”
“There are better ways of raising money for charity.”
“What’s better than watching a line-up of the most eligible bachelors in town?”
“If they were that eligible they wouldn’t be here.”
“What?”
“They must the most conceited meat-heads to agree to participate.” The snark was enough to earn her another ‘get over it’ look.
“Don’t be so uptight.” Mel shook her head disparagingly. “You’ve been working way too hard. They’re doing it to support a good cause. It’s a laugh. A laugh.” Another pointed look. “Remember how to do that? Open your mouth, go ‘ha ha’?”
“You know I’m damn good at laughing.” Cally sighed. “I’m just not in the mood for this kind of funny tonight.”
“Well down your Sex in the Surf or whatever that drink is called, and get yourself in the mood. Sit back, enjoy the show. Nobody says you have to bid. Buy a few raffle tickets and be done with it.”
Mel was right. But the scene didn’t sit well with Cally. It was so far removed from the cause it was supposed to be supporting. Here they were, draped with all this money – conspicuous consumption to the max. Half these people probably wouldn’t give a second thought to those who this event was supposed to be helping. They were just paying lip service – just wanting to get together with a gang of girlfriends and ogle some talent. Bitch over someone else’s dress. Out to outdo and be seen doing it.
It was the kind of thing her mother would love. She’d be here, out glamorising even the most glamorous and providing sound bytes in the style of a Miss Universe save-the-world speech. Fortunately she was away sunning herself on a beach in the Mediterranean somewhere.
Cally grimaced as she glanced round again. Nope. So not her scene. She preferred to stay out of the limelight her mother had always sought. Yes she had money. Yes she felt a responsibility to do charitable work. But her father had taught her how much more fun it was to do something behind the scenes, or to donate anonymously. When he’d died she’d made a vow to continue his work and so had maintained strong connections with his favourite charity – the homeless shelter only a few blocks from the opulent home in which she’d spent her happiest childhood years. She loved the time she put into it – feeling as if it was a way of retaining links with him, wanting to do something that she knew would have made him proud.
Mel cleared her throat and glared again. “Must you be so earnest Cally? For heaven’s sake, have another drink. Or one of those chocolate truffles.”
Cally grinned at that. Actually the chocolate truffles were pretty divine. She pulled the plate nearer. Half the women here wouldn’t touch them anyway, so Cally could have their share. Then she gave herself a rebuke over her pathetic holier-than-thou moment. Many of these women gave time as well as money to charity. One of the wealthiest women in the room spent a night a week answering calls on a youth helpline. And while she might come across as if nothing mattered more than the colour of the dressing rooms in her new guest wing, the way she could listen to and calm distressed and incoherent teens was incredible.
The music got even louder, and the MC appeared on stage. Applause filled the air. The show was about to start. Biting into another truffle Cally sat back and acknowledged that maybe Mel was right. Man candy. So what if people were buying some hunky company? She wasn’t shopping. She’d just watch, be amused by the craziness, try not to feel cheapened, buy a few raffle tickets and donate a chunk on the quiet later. She sipped from her wide-rimmed glass and as she relaxed, the first man for sale appeared.

“I can’t believe I agreed to come here.” Blake looked around him thunderstruck. “I know I didn’t agree to this.”
“You did.”
“I thought you meant some kind of working bee. You said a spot of gardening, cleaning up.”
“And that’s exactly what you’ll be doing.”
Blake gave Judith, his PA, a look of withering disbelief. Not if the sound of those braying women was anything to go by. “I really don’t think so.”
She’d insisted they come straight from the office, he’d been working late. So here he was after a long day, in his suit, needing a shave. He ran his fingers through his hair to stop him exiting the scene. For a second he wished he smoked so he could relieve the stress. Honestly, meeting with a roomful of sceptical investors had nothing on this. This sounded worse than a bear pit. Now he knew how those gladiators had felt back in the Roman days. The first poor guy had gone on and the howls from the divas in the audience were deafening. Then he heard the bidding begin and the feeling of panic, mixed with distaste, rose.
“Give the organisers my apologies. I’ll make a donation. Large as you like. But I’m not sticking around for this.”
Judith blocked his exit from the room. Not hard given that she was wider than a small van at the moment. She rubbed at the swell of her belly, looked at him with the beseeching eyes of a homeless puppy. Only hers were blue not brown and there was an irrepressible twinkle in them. “You’re not really going to leave are you?”
He hesitated.
“You can’t. I said you’d be here.” She switched to rubbing the small of her back. The action pushed her belly out even further. “Blake, please. You promised.”
She wasn’t laying it on with a trowel but by the wheelbarrow. Dump truck even.
His eyes narrowed. “The sooner you go on maternity leave, the better.”
She smiled sweetly. “I knew you wouldn’t let me down.”
Like most men, Blake found it pretty difficult to say no to the pleas of a pregnant woman. But while Judith knew she could play on it, she didn’t know the real reason why. There wasn’t much Blake wouldn’t do to keep a pregnant woman happy. He didn’t want to bear any more of a burden that he already did – one lost child was too much as it was.
He watched as she made her way to the door with her slower than usual – but still pretty quick – gait. He hadn’t been joking. She might have been leaning on her pregnancy vulnerability just then but he’d noticed how tired she’d been these last couple of weeks. Her husband was a fool. No wife of Blake’s would be working through her pregnancy – not any of it. She’d be at home being cared for and not racing around.
He’d tried to lighten Judith’s workload for her but she’d laughed at him. Saying she was pregnant, not sick and that she was as capable as ever of the multitude of tasks he required of her. And, employment law being what it was, he had to let her. He still thought her husband was a fool, surely he’d have more ability to slow her down? But he was so besotted he said yes to anything. Whatever made her happy, made him happy. Blake grimaced. He couldn’t ever see himself giving that kind of power to another. Self sufficiency was the way to success.
Then again, hadn’t he failed to say no to Judith just now? His frown deepened and his sympathy for her husband grew. Her maternity leave definitely couldn’t come soon enough. And right now Blake had other things to worry about – like being paraded in front of a room full of women wanting to bid for the ‘catch of the day’.
His turn edged closer. He went and stood in the wings, peeked through a tiny gap in the curtain out to the audience. He knew full well Judith had misled him about this ‘charity fundraiser’. Ok not misled, but not filled in all the info on the page. He scanned the crowd. Women who’d probably never gotten their hands dirty. Never ever come into contact with the people this event was supposedly going to help. The homeless, the hopeless, the destitute, the desperate. They’d have no idea, here they were just doing their ‘bit’ for charity.
He listened to the high pitched shrieks of laughter as the latest victim suffered the humiliation of being priced. This was shaping up to be one of the most embarrassing evenings of his life. But as Judith had said, he’d made a promise and Blake McKay always kept his promises. He turned away from the audience, thrust back his shoulders and gave himself the pep-talk. Whatever he did, he did to the best of his ability. This was how he’d climbed rung by rung from the bottom of the heap to the top. With sheer grit and determination to be the best. And so, if they wanted a man to perform, he’d be their man – their ‘He-Slave’. He loosened his tie a little. Ran his fingers through his hair to give him even more of the tousled long-day-at-the-office look. He looked across the backstage area at a couple of the other poor souls who’d been railroaded into ‘performing’ for charity. Saw one of them down a neat whiskey. He flashed him a tight grin. Then Judith was back, telling him he was next up.
It wouldn’t be the first time Blake had used his body like this. He’d sold out before. Women found him attractive, thought he was handsome. He’d been paid good money to trade his looks. He knew he was above the shallowness, the insincerity. Just keep it light. Think of the money – think of the charity. His time as a model all those years ago had taught him that women loved the brooding look. Not a problem. He really was brooding – on the revenge he’d have on his PA the minute she got back to work on Monday.
He listened to the words of introduction in disbelief. Judith, grinning at him from the opposite wings, had done a fine job in talking up his assets. He’d come up with some hideous filing task to keep her bored for hours on Monday. Then his name rang out and with a deep breath and a muttered curse, he stormed onto the stage, automatically moving his feet in time to the beat of the loud music. Once he got to the centre he stopped, stood. Clenching his jaw, he stared out. The audience was semi-lit. He could see sparkle and lipstick and hair – everywhere. The blonde highlights dazzled. He carefully looked over the audience, happy to take his time. He walked closer to the edge of the stage, so he could window shop as obviously as they were window shopping him. Never show you were intimidated. He would at least pretend to be in control of this situation. Bluff through until he had them.
He caught sight of one particularly blinding blonde and sent her a small smile. The shrieks increased. He turned, walked in the other direction. Blow hot, blow cold.
Women were fickle creatures. He knew how to keep them keen, he also knew not to trust them, certainly never take them seriously. But while his heart was permanently locked away from their clutches, his body didn’t mind messing around now and then. The adrenalin kicked in, and he almost, almost, began to enjoy it. He winked at another screamer. Raise money, get the bids up, up, up.
He almost missed her, his eyes passing over without seeing, except her stillness marked her out in the clapping, cheering crowd. She was the shadow to the blonde and bejewelled beside her. Her dark hair hung in a neat bob. Glossy and sleek, it enhanced her pale skin, ruby lips, the gentle curve of her cheek. She was staring at him. Not moving. Not talking. Not laughing or even nodding in time to the beat. Eerily still in the room full of chaos. He paused, for a second forgetting what he was supposed to be doing.
Stick figure women dressed in black usually didn’t do it for him. But this woman wasn’t stick thin and on her the black emphasised her creaminess – her full creaminess. His muscles tightened that little bit, a small flame sparking inside.
She wasn’t shrieking, like the blonde next to her. She wasn’t even smiling. But she was staring. A cool look that had him wanting to shake the reserve from her. He was seized with the desire to make her move. To make her sway, make her want and above all to wipe that icy look of condescension from her face. She was judging. He was not a man to be judged. Not by her. Not in the negative way she so obviously was.
Blake liked his coffee strong and dark, a little bitter. He was looking right at a very tempting espresso. For despite the lack of smile, despite the patent disapproval, there was fire in her eyes.
Double espresso.
The blonde beside her was grinning widely – at her rather than at him. She didn’t seem to notice, she was too busy giving him that scornful look. For a long moment he stood as still as she sat. His jaw clenched, fists curled, and a wash of begrudging desire ran through him – desire to prove her wrong, to prove a point.
It became imperative not just to raise some money here, but some serious money. If he was going to sell himself, it would be for the highest price. At that he realised he’d better get back to the parading bit. For charity, he told himself, gritting his teeth and flashing a genuine tortured look.
He forced himself to relax, to smile at the harpy at the table on the other side, who had enough volume to drown out a crowd at a football match all by herself.
The experience from photographic shoots and catwalk struts came flooding back, his muscles remembering the way to move. With ease he prowled the length of the stage and back, pausing to deliver the ‘look’ now and then. He felt strangely energised, like he was the one hunting out the prey, not the other way round. And he knew who his target would be this evening.

THE MOVIE THAT MADE ME CRY THE MOST

First up, it's always nice to start the day with good news and today I'm thrilled to be able to say that Bella and Owen's story - my 7th Modern Heat - has been accepted! It'll be on the shelves as:

PLEASURED IN THE PLAYBOY'S PENTHOUSE

- I'll let you know the release dates later - YAY!!!!

Now, let's get on to the competition thing! You read the heading of this blog right? Yep, that's what Jude and I wanna know - which movie was it that had you crying buckets... that really hit you in a raw spot and made you bleed...

There's something about movies that make you cry - the experience can be wonderful - so cathartic! But I must admit I have a couple that made me cry to much I actually kind of hate them! ;)

So why are we wanting to know this when my books are usually sprinkled with humour over pathos?! Well for me, BOUGHT: ONE NIGHT, ONE MARRIAGE - the book up for grabs as part ofhte prize pack, is the first book I've written that's made me cry, my editor cry AND my mother cry - the trifecta!!! That's some feat you know ;) I've had combinations before, but not all three...
BOUGHT does have my usual funny spots, but there are just a couple of moments where - oh boy, have those hankies handy...

You'll have to flip over to Jude's Blog to see all about her movie picks!!!

Over the next few days I"ll post an excerpt from BOUGHT, and from Jude's "The Confetti Countdown", and detail some of the other prizes in our fabbo pack.

BUT YOU MUST ENTER!!!! Send me an email natalie@natalie-anderson.com and tell me the name of the movie that made you cry the most (and why if you want to!). Over the month we'll put snippets up from YOUTUBE (if we can) so it'll be a movie madness month! And on July 31st we'll draw the winner! So send 'em in and come and check them out!

To get the ball rolling, here's a snippet from one of my weepie movies (I have several!). This is from Truly, Madly, Deeply - it is heartbreaking as she learns she has to move on with her life - and he has to move on with his afterlife...I adore Alan Rickman... you know I've just spent the last half hour debating Youtube clips and here I am bawling! Just not sensible at 5 in the morning!!! In the end I settled on the trailer (the voiceover guy sounds a bit cheery but it's all good):

Now hop on over to Jude and see hers!!!
