..to me
Happy Birthday to me
Happy Birthday to me (for yesterda-a-a-ay)
Happy Birthday to me
- it was a fairly subdued affair with the twins still a bit grizzly post sickness and both normal nanny and trainnee nanny away with the bug too... but the big kids and I and hubby still had some fun.
And we were all tucked up in bed by 7pm!
Wahhoooo - rage on party animals! ;)
Anyway, here's an opportunity to win a pressie! I'm staight off to Julie Cohen's Blog to go in the draw for a hardback copy of her book "One Night Stand" - pop on over and enter too - Julie's books are fab and funny and most definitely frisky and you'll love them. I do.

I'm no cissie...
Writing is all about... PERSERVERENCE
Through the hard times, the thick, the thin. The downright crappy.
- guess where I'm at at the moment.
Everyone (except me) has a tummy bug. On a long weekend when we'd hoped to have some nice family time and I'd hoped to do a spot of catch-up on my wordcount.
Never mind.
I'm at that point in the WIP where all the horrible stuff is starting to happen. Its the last third of the book and its always a slog through here. Hard to write. Even harder to fix. And utterly exhausting. Its the time where I just have to make myself sit there day in, day out and type each word one after the other. In a week or two the rough draft will be done and this bit will be a vague memory but for now its just perservere, perservere, perservere.
I remember seeing on one author's website (I *think* it might have been Cherry Adair but I'm probably wrong) - "writing isn't for cissies".
- it sure isn't.
It's hard and its getting harder the more I do - because every book you want to be better, more funny, more emotional, more uplifting... more, more, more (what you do is never enough, you know?) and it is a huge effort and I think you need to be pretty tough.
Ugh. Ignore me. Having a 'not enough sleep' melodrmatic moment. Best get back upstairs and to the wip pronto!!!

Happy Anniversary to me-and-my-editor...
.. yep, one year ago tonight she called and said she wanted to buy my book! (And could I write another...)
I confess I had to look it up in a diary and work out the date because back at the time it was all crazy - as you all know. Since then I've written and sold three more books from scratch and am over halfway the next. Amd we've gotten the twins through the first year of their lives.
I'm off to have some chocolate to celebrate :)

"Pleasured by the Secret Millionaire"
... is the new title for Rhys!!!
YES - heard back from my ed and after the revisions I'm thrilled to say he's been accepted. I'm not sure of the release date yet but will let you know as soon as I do.
Happy days I tellya 'cos Rhys gave me some serious grief - oh yes, blood, sweat and tears were shed over him!!!
Anyway, to celebrate, here's a teeny snippet...
...She glanced at her watch. A bit after 3pm, the lunch crowd had moved on and everyone was back at work – except the tourists, travellers and holidaymakers like her. The restaurant and club a couple of blocks down from the hostel had its doors wide open – circulating air on the steamy Sydney day where the humidity was high and the thunder storm approaching. She hoped it would happen soon, she wasn’t used to the hard-to-breathe air.
Then she heard it. Boom, boom; hiss, boom, boom, hiss – the unmistakable strike of stick on drum and cymbal. It stopped and then started again. Then she heard the twang of a rough chord on an electric guitar followed by a disembodied male voice, “One, one. Two, t-t-t-two.”
Sound check.
Suddenly she felt right at home, right at ease, and her legs just walked her in there – right into the open bar that was closed for business. To where the band was onstage and the rehearsal was happening. Four guys were up there, dressed in shorts and tees and the lead singer had the skinny boy star look and mandatory crazy hair. She slipped in the back, enjoying the breeze from the fans, watched the drummer with envy, her fingers itching.
“I’m sorry you can’t stay here. The bar’s not open yet.”
Reluctantly she dragged her gaze from the drum kit to the man who’d walked up beside her. She blinked. Once. Again. Then rapidly a couple more times to try make her silly eyes focus. My God. So men like that really did exist? The kind that would have every woman in the vicinity immediately doing their pelvic floor exercises because they knew, absolutely knew, that keeping up with him in the bedroom would require some spectacular performance.
Sienna’s whole body tensed - especially her pelvic floor.

Last chance...
.. to be in the draw to win a copy of Bedded by Arrangement which will be released in the UK in November (and OZ/NZ in January and the US in June). Just email me - natalie@natalie-anderson.com or post a comment. I'll let you know the winner tomorrow.
Meanwhile, here's the teaser from inside the front cover...
"Take your jacket off."
Wordlessly, slowly, she unbuttoned the black suit jacket. She only had a simple white cami-tee on underneath. That was it - combination underwear and top that she hadn't intended for public display. He stood stock still, watching as she revealed the front of it. She hesitated, her arms still in the jacket sleeves,as the edges of his mouth lifted into a grin that sent her internal mercury even higher.
"OK." He cleared his throat. "Now let's get started. I might come up to you, like I did earlier, and run a finger down your arm." He proceeded to do exactly that. "No, don't jump and look at me like I'm about to shoot you. You're supposed to welcome my touch - want it, want more."
Oh. Want more. She forced herself to stay still, to relax, to think about something mundane.
"Better." His voice was softer, lower. Way too sexy. His finger slid up again, then traced down the side of her strap, gently nudged it aside to bare her shoulder completely. "Much better."

Bedded By Arrangement - WIN!!!
His one-month mistress...Jake Rendel is a successful millionaire who works hard and plays hard – unlike his old neighbour, Emma Delaney, who’s stifled by her uninspiring job. So whilst Jake’s in town, he makes Emma a proposition to shake off her prim and proper image: for a month they’ll pretend to be having a hot and steamy affair!
Emma’s out of her depth – and things quickly get passionate in private as well as in public… All too soon this quiet girl-next-door is wishing the month will never end…unless her role as the playboy’s temporary mistress could become a lot more permanent…
So who wants a copy? All you have to do is email me natalie@natalie-anderson.com (or leave a comment here) and I'll do a random draw in a week.
Go on, you know you want to!!! (Which is kinda what Jake-the-Gorgeous says to Emma - and he's right - and he's worth it!!!)
